A typographic study and design system organized to navigate my extensive lineage
My goal was to organize a large amount of information into a legible hierarchy of a modern family tree, experimenting with typography, alignment, visual connections, and composition.
ORGANIZING INFORMATION
I started with 13 pages of rough sketches consisting all the information I needed for the family tree .
DIGITAL ITERATIONS AND DESIGN SYSTEMS
Taking inspiration from my original family tree, I created a design system that celebrated the original while also incorporating more modern elements.

CREATING A SYSTEM
To organize over 100 people, I created a code system to organize people according to their ancestors.
GRAPHIC TRANSLATIONS
I created a grid system to ensure a clean and symmetrical design.
PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER
My goal was to organize the names in a way that would be easy for any member of my family to track their ancestors.
ADDING COLOR AND DESIGN
Lastly, I incorporated color throughout and my hand-drawn border.
