A characterization of an animal turned into a logo which represents a brand identity
My goal was to research qualities of an animal to build a better understanding of how physical and abstract qualities can be shown through design. Later I incorporated it into a brand.
INITIAL SKETCHING
After researching qualities of the great horned owl, I started sketching to better understand its definitive characteristics.
GRAPHIC TRANSLATIONS
I experimented with different design elements that would reflect the qualities of the great horned owl.

CREATING A BRAND IDENTITY
I chose to use my owl as a logo for a youth hostel. I think its nocturnal habits relate to the lively environment of hostels around the world. Here, I brainstormed ways I can showcase that energy in my design.
IDENTITY EXPLORATION
I experimented with different typefaces and color combinations, later incorporating it into my owl design.
BRAND IDENTITY
Here, I created a design system that I can use for branding of the hostel.
